This is an original idea realized by the US Bandco Company for some Tour Operators.
« In honor of Mozart’s 250th anniversary of birth, a Luxury Tour Operator, specialized in musical and cultural journeys, offered its Salzburg clients a casket with a ready to play MP3 player containing a 2 hour audio recording and the plan of the «ballades musicales » in Salzburg ».
This audio guide organizes a tour of every famous monument in the European capital of classical music.
Every stop of the tour is explained in its historical context, punctuated with unusual details and anecdotes and illustrated with the greatest pieces of Mozart’s art played here where they had been composed. There are more than 44 chapters guiding Salzburg tours at Mozart’s place»… For more information, visit www.usbandco.com, the European leader serving your communication.

For a few months I have received e-mailings announcing that a new tradefair for the premium and gift industry was launched in Amsterdam, Holland: the Pro8. I’m quite astonished: why would distributors visit this fair rather than PSI or would they visit both fairs ? What is so new and innovative that will make the fair a success.
Below is an interview with John Swaab from PRO8, my questions are quite agressive, but it’s true that I’m really not convinced (yet) that this fair has it’s place in the actual market.

Henk : Dear Tetsu, Could you please give some short feedback about your company, I learned your company is working since 1984 in Premium and gift business ? Does your company import products from China, or do you source from US suppliers ? For which major corporations does your company work ?
Tetsu : Although most of the products we sell are made in China, we work with trusted intermediaries in the United States to procure the imports. Some of our suppliers import the items directly from China on our behalf. Others buy the products and imprint them for us as needed.
Our company has worked extensively with many major corporations and nonprofits during the twenty plus years we have been in business. These include: American Express, Barnes & Noble, Citicorp, Prudential Investments, the United Nations, MTV, OppenheimerFunds, Universal Motown Records, Young & Rubicam, Elsevier and Continental Airlines.
Henk : Are your clients mainly based in New York or do you also serve clients throughout the US or even abroad ? Your website is very complete, and it seems easy to order online. So I suppose you get orders from all over the US ?

How to use promotional product to boost your booth traffic ?
Brenda Keener from Suite 101 gives us some good hints on her website : Choosing promotional giveaways
For example, at one point, she reminds us to keep in mind that what you give away is a reflection of your company.
Below is the first of a series of case studies from all around the world on this subject.

A very original giveaway is the one used by DME in Belgium last year. DME had two booths at the same trade show but quite far from each other. They were looking for a way to get visitors from one booth to visit also visit the other.
DME used nice black socks displaying their logo. Each sock had a headercard explaining that the visitor could claim the second sock at the other booth to make the complete pair.
The gift was original and usefull as many visitors kept the sock in their hand till they arrived at the next booth.

Many distributors in Europe now buy frequently from the far east. But only a few buy promotional products from the New World. It’s a pity because there are some innovative items there that deserve attention. This interview is about a range of Promotional golf products made in Canada by the company Zoogee.

A national Bank wants to offer a present to their corporate clients for the end of the year. (company managers, financial directors ) The last 5 years they’ve offered a hard board calendar. This year they would like a more innovative promotional product to surprise their clients. Their budget is between 2 and 3 euros (USD ) per piece. Quantity: 15 000 pieces.
Which item will you propose and why?
Solution from Spain
A bank must show security and trustfulness to such clients, I would propose to give a present suggesting to their corporative clients to relax while they make their investments growing…
A high gram beach towel with the bank logo in jacquard, or a leather neck-pillow for plane travelling fits in the budget.
Note : A distributor is more than a merchandising seller, he must behave as a promotional assessor, when you visit a fair, open your eyes looking for ideas, not only profitable items…

Isère Publicité doesn’t propose one single corporate gift for the manager or Financial director but proposed a small package of promotional items which the receiver will distribute to his colleagues in the office. A box with 10 or 20 small Winnies, also called Wuppie or Weeple, in different colours and shapes.
Each person in the office will be able to choose the one that fits best to his personality, a golfer, a football fan, a tennis player, a skier, a ladybird etc. The distribution of these items in the office will create a commotion around the bank’s promotion.

Zintuig relatiegeschenken would like to propose a luxury decision maker engraved with the logo of the bank.
A heavy metal piece on the desk of every financial director, it’s a fun gift but with a serious undertone. It looks nice and is very exclusive so the bank can count on years of visibility on every desk, and with the engraving on top the bank will be sure they will be « looked at » when important financial decisions are made!
